On Monday’s lecture I talked about social networks, especially creativity and status. On Wednesday I discussed genre, including producer coordination, audience reception, and trajectory. Next week I’m doing gatekeeping and the origins and practice of journalist objectivity.

Fun to hear my work taught–that was a first. I thank you for sharing it with them. I would pick a little fight over your Pixies example, only because I think “alt rock” is not a genre, and Nirvana fits rather in our description of grunge. But I love that the example resolves in the “reunion tour” which struck me at the time as sheer panic over our encroaching middle age years.

sorry about that but if I’m gonna get anything wrong I’d rather it be the empirical example rather than the abstract model

I should add that I just opened up a window to forward the podcast to Pete. I guess it still hasn’t sunk in.
